Block 2 - Cafe library

How to identify those who willing to open up?

The cafe is facing inside instead of the street. The main reason is to create an enclosed
open space that can help them to be more opening up to the neighbourhood. It creates a
differentiation between being a public social cafe which aims for commercial interests,
instead here it is all about encouraging connection.

The library is facing outdoor, this is to show that we have books and you don't need to be
afraid of no one reading inside. Inspired by the shop front window, here to encourage the
public to read. The entrance of the library can through the residential building, as the
library open 24 hrs for them. The way for the public is through the cafe, which
encouraged people who are more intrusive to join the conversation in the cafe. The
soundproof window and door panels, sound absorption ceiling panel and bookshelves
help to keep the space quiet for reading. It is rather a contrast compared to the busy road
outside.

The green roof above allows children to learn about the basic farming steps in the organic
vegetable garden and also as the bridge that links up block 1 and 3.
