Update!

For those who are interested in the geological site work (Baden-Württemberg), please feel free to contact us and get involved!

Kleniondswerk is a narrative-based art practice initiative that focuses on the connection between sense and the form of the land. Through investigating the intersection of human activities with inanimate natural medium, we emphasise the interpretation of experiences through the integration of philosophy, design, art and geoscience methodologies.
As a transdisciplinary practice with an STS (Science, Technology and Society) and STEM education focus, this initiative explores what a common practice on the theme of inanimate matter with the heart of citizen science and artistic work can be like. Our field work reveals not only the dimension of geological knowledge but also our chance to encounter the possibilities these embedded natural elements, unfolding the predisposition and perspective we used to hold regarding our understanding of the earth. Together, we can enhance our appreciation for the beauty and complexity of our planet through aesthetic exploration.

Design Philosophy - Bauhaus Architectural Experimental Design Workshop

2025

The workshop aims to introduce P5 – P6 Students to the fundamental concepts of the Bauhaus movement and its influence on modern architecture and design. It encourages an understanding of cultural heritage, such as functionality, simplicity, and the integration of art and technology in design.

Through hands-on model making and creative exploration, participants will deepen their practical understanding of construction, reflecting their learning experiences in an appreciation for architecture and design. This will motivate them to observe and interact with the built environment around them.

The process also encourages them to think outside the box, engage in imaginative play, and express their ideas through design. This helps them understand how space, shape, and colour interact in design, empowering them to express their ideas and inspiring them to continue exploring the world of design and architecture.

Design Research Thesis Project    (First stage 2020 - 2021)

2020 - date

Continuing the feminist fermentations exercise from Hothouse Event 2022 with the Posthumanities Hub regarding the age of unsettlement. The co-worlding initiative's experience and collective unlearning explore the joint automatic writing activity. The approach from dialogue continues to the work on collective memories sharing as a form of common practice.

In the second stage (2021-2023), the project goal is to explore the possibilities and underlying foundation for a connected network of moments. Which can later turn into a mixed media & medium platform entangled with an individual's smell/-y memories. Moving forward without moving on, can a smell/-y memory from one's mind transform its past and present into the digital world that collaborates with experience to keep part of that archive alive?

Through Tony Fry’s ontological design concept as a political practice 'to recognise the insufficiency of design practice’, and ‘to take account of what design does.’ It aims to investigate how to establish a social practice of understanding the ontological design which connects the social design and community design within the hybrid spatial environment. Explore the possibility of a non-problem-solving social practice in the discourse in the transition design framework and community-based social innovation design practice. It searches for a way to experience unlearning and to rethink methodology, theory and tools with a different direction of time and space. The purpose of this is to explore the possibility of a social practice related to design as a groundwork to raise awareness on the complexity of the design research on the crisis. It is to question the current situation under the technocene and how to establish a social practice as a message to the assembly as a form of medium. More importantly, what could a social practice that decolonises our predisposition and generates a common ground be like?

Experience the togetherness - zusammen - Modular kitchen island is a speculative design that articulates how synthetic food's consumption habits will change and an alternative way of sharing time with family and friends during eating time. The model is an all-in-one kitchen/dining island with 3D food printing, laser cooking and waste recycling compartment and nutrition, health and medicine organising AI assistant.

DesignScience 2021 Synthetic foods
Team Čemaž

2021

Question - How do we introduce new synthetic foods to create a positive systemic and individual change rather than fear and corporate control? How might we use education to teach people how to eat well for themselves and the long-term health of the planet? What will be the key value of cultured meat that can create systemic mindset change on the planet? How is synthetic food introduced so it doesn’t cause intimidation or fear?
Topics to tackle - Branding of future food, Ideology of future food, Educating people about food, Global economics of food, Sustainability, New food products, Self-sufficiency, Food waste

Are humans ready for such a transformation? In this Design+Science Summer School, we examined the framework of the food industry using avant-garde tools and concepts of visual communication and explored the possible consequences of synthetic food becoming a reality.

In the final presentation, our team performs as consultants in the role play to interact with the audience that set the scene in 2065, a conference from the Republic of Slovenia's Ministry of Food in Ljubljana. A system change policy that aimed to establish a new way of food habits, production, consumption and nutrition.

Design as Projection: Randomized Mindmap

2021

Taking the collective map developed in the design as a projection theme from the Bauhaus design research program. The project searches for an alternative way of presenting a complex mind map, a way of seeing how the meaning of things unfolds. A philosophical investigation practice of approaching representation. Apart from design theory and methodology, what can be the alternative way of demonstrating the interconnectedness in-between? What can be a way to articulate this sphere? Without form and structure and not to generate knowledge but understanding?
The experiment takes into account the work by Ludwig Wittgenstein in Philosophical Investigations. A theoretical approach to the inclusion of chance operates with medium as tools from algorithms and mock-ups to speculate the understanding of projection as a connected sign in language, thinking and meaning.

co-working spatial design for home.work

2022

A co-working space that feels like home. In the post-pandemic era, new work and home offices become a new model of the workforce. The idea of a space that offers a feeling of home for freelancers, whether working offline or in the meta realm, we still need a node of social touch.

GENERATIVE EXPLORATION

2020

If we consider algorithm-generated sound and illustrations a 'thing'. And inputs, constraints and commands, then, are controlled by someone. With the apparatus and its medium, the experiment is "in search of" something. A way to experience the embodiment of ambience in a utopian or dystopian futuring expectancy. Whether one has "choices" or "randomness", the experiment here is not to examine its ability or aesthetic, but rather to look beyond the medium and machine. On how we, humans, associate our reactions and feeling toward a media created by the algorithm.

As a spatial design and research practitioner with a science and engineering background, she urges exploring possibilities of innovative ways that allow boundaries to remain yet be flexible to reemerge in a specific event. An approach to experience the transdisciplinarity between science and creativity, through open dialogue and experimental design practice.

Her MSc research work through a lens of philosophical investigation and un-(re)-learning on the designer's practice towards the 'designed world' on the wicked problem. How likely are we to establish a connected common through different levels of collaboration? Will there be a requirement for groundwork before the design or planning of “infrastructure”? This further reflects on her MA design project, which focuses on social issues and aims to create a spatial experience through a mixed-use complex for the local community to respond to the technocence.

She continues on her journey to design research, and her current works focus on design philosophy pedagogy with STEM educational material and workshop development for young adults.
